Goodbyes and Food Poisoning

Dad left for Maui on Saturday (Nov 13). He'll be back on Dec 13.
One whole month! Sometimes things go a little crazy when Dad's not around...

At the airport just before Dad left.

I knitted this scarf for Dad. I know the temperature in Maui is about the same as Malaysia, but Dad said they might go to some mountains.

Eunice spent the whole morning playing in this at KFC.

After dropping Dad at the airport, we drove to Sunway Pyramid for Ethan's 1st birthday party.

I guess I ate something wrong there cos while going home in the car, I started vomiting like crazy.
I spent the whole night vomiting and rolling around, moaning in pain. I was shivering and sweating, hot and cold at the same time.
We went to a clinic the next morning (Sunday) and because I couldn't drink anything or I'll vomit again, the doctor gave me a jab in my right arm. He also gave me 4 different types of medicine. I slept on the couch for the whole day and was shivering like mad.
I became better in the evening, but I had a fever at night and Mom had to dip towels in ice water for me the entire night. I was literally burning.
I"m still a bit hot now, but much better than yesterday.

Birthday and Farewell Dinner

We went to Secret Recipe for dinner tonight. It was partially to celebrate Mom's birthday (Nov 3) and partially a farewell dinner ro Dad. He's going away to Maui, Hawaii for a whole month!
I thought of disguising myself as a flight attendant, but I don't think that would work.
And if I try hiding in one of Dad's luggage bags...well, I guess that when the bag is scanned, a bunch of moving bones won't be too usual, huh? I don't think I can pass as a mummy either (unless I had already suffocated).

Eunice has a bad habit of taking her stuffed toy dog around with her sometimes...

Spicy...

My favorite!

Mother and Daughter Conference

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Commit held a Mother and Daughter Conference in PJ.
Although they didn't go to Melaka, Alyssa and her mom (they're from our cell group) went, too.

Eunice couldn't go cos the conference was only for those 10 yrs and above, so she got to spent the whole 2 days with Dad.

There were also workshops in this conference. So, we, of course, picked drama again!
This skit was called 'The Princess and the Kiss'. It's a book, actually. I know the title's real mushy, but it's quite OK inside.

And I got to act as a boy again! Actually, a prince. Prince Peacock. I had to be really vain and proud. I also had to put lots of tissue paper under my sleeves for muscles.
Brianna acted as Prince Romance. She was SO GOOD! She was so dramatic and poetic.
Alyssa acted as Prince Treasurechest. Her fake gold rings were so cute!
Jia Wen was Prince Scholar. The audience stood and whistled and clapped when she said, "I even know how to spell......LOVE." Of course, she didn't spell it correctly and had to check her dictionary.
Mom was the Queen. She also got quite a lot of laughs.
The Princess was a really old mother. It was so funny when we kids had to propose to her.

Prince Peacock (I haven't put in the tissue yet)

Prince Romance

Prince Treasurechest (she doesn't have all her props on yet)

The Queen

Unlike the skit in Melaka, we had to perform immediately after hardly any practice.
This skit was a bit messier than the one in Melaka, but it was alright, I guess.
When we performed in Melaka, I got the most laughs as JB, but in this skit Brianna got the most laughs as Prince Romance.

Melaka

We left for Melaka last Wednesday morning (Nov 3rd, Mom's birthday). Brianna sat in our car.
We arrived at about 11a.m. and met Charis and her family to go to the Maritime Museum.

The Maritime Museum itself is a replica of the 'Flora de La Mar', a Portuguese ship that sank off the coast of Melaka while on its way to Portugal, carrying loot plundered from Melaka. Work on the replica started in early 1990 and it was opened to the public in 1994. The Maritime Museum was officially opened by the Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on June 13, 1994.

They had lots of ship models and old coins.

These were used to load cannons. Yeah, I know they kinda look like meatballs.
And I'm hungry...

We checked into our hotel in the late evening and went for a swim. My parents didn't swim, as usual.

Bill Gothard came to Malaysia this year. It was like he suddenly popped out of the screen.

Commit (the program for girls) started the next day. We girls all had to wear a white or maroon colored shirt and khaki colored skirt, as that was the dress code.

The Commit core team this year: Michelle Reed (I don't know her married name), Hannah Joy Burnett, Caitlin Marie Miller, and Mary Bethany Tullis.

During workshop time, we got to choose a section to participate in. There was knitting, games, card making, drawing, doing hair, and drama.
Eunice, Brianna, and I decided to go for drama this year.
When you chose drama, you had to perform a skit on the last day.
This year's skit was about a girl named Mary Jo (Natasha Pedito) 'giving pieces of her heart' away to all sorts of boys.
These were the boy characters: Worship Leader Larry (Sara Ong), Good Listener Lewis (Brianna), Popular Peter (Jia Wen) and his fan Patrick (Retasya), Famous Justin Bieber (me), and the friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend on facebook (Celeste Tan).
Well, I absolutely HATE Justin Bieber and I saw this as an opportunity to make fun of him.
I'll show you the video once my friend sends it to me.
I had to sing "Baby, baby, baby, oh..." during the skit and when I flung my head, my cap fell off.
Of course, the skit was HILARIOUS.

Anyway, on Thursday, we girls got to wear pants and go to a forest where the Alert Cadet (the program for boys) went every day.
We played lots of games and got real wet, sweaty, and dirty.
I don't have any photos to show, though.

On Thursday evening, we had dinner with Mr. Gothard. Close to 300 people came.
We had to book almost the whole restaurant and Holiday Inn!

Just a few of us. (left to right) David Waller, George Mattix, Bill Gothard, Robert Staddon, Mom, Eunice, Aunty Chris, Ethan, Brianna, Dad, and me.
I look so weird in a skirt...

Eunice sleeps just like my dad. It's like she's deep in thought...

A few families wrote an appreciation letter to Mr. Gothard. We put all of them into a file and gave it to Mr. Gothard on the last day.

This is ours. Yeah, I know it's got quite a few smudges and Mom looks like she's got a huge mole.

We came back from Melaka last Saturday. Hannah Burnett sat in our car. She and I talked quite a lot while Eunice was sitting between us, snoring away...
